 Street sale a big success!:

GVBA residents held their annual street sale on June 10th- 12th in conjunction with the Grand View Heights Association street sale.  A big turnout was achieved, the weather cooperated, and the sale was a big success.  Thanks go to Janet Thompson for organizing it!

4th of July Parade coming up

GVBA's annual 4th of July parade is on again!  We'll line up at 9AM on the 4th and start marching at 10 AM at the West dead end of Old Edgemere.  A special kazoo section is part of the band - join the band and we'll provide the kazoo!  We expect the usual big turnout.  Local and state dignitaries have already rsvp'd.  Join your neighbors in celebrating our nation's birthday at the biggest small town parade around!

GVBA mourns the loss of Ted Munson:

The residents of Grand View Beach mourn the recent passing of long time resident and Association board member Ted Munson.  We extend our deepest sympathies to his family.  He will be missed by all on the beach.

NY state needs you to watch for terrorist activities:

The NY State Police Counter Terrorism group recently sent out a questionnaire to all Grand View Beach residents.  This was designed to help build a database to thwart potential terrorist activities.

Since we are located on the border with Canada, NY State Police reminds us to be vigilant for possible illegal entry into the US via our shoreline.  Report suspicious activity directly to the NY State Police toll free at 1-866-SAFENYS (1-866-3697) or to the US Border Patrol at 1-800-331-0353

Discount Services continues to provide big benefits to our residents.

GVBA’s own Jim Shirmer and Joe Martin continue to work hard to bring new suppliers to provide discounted services that are important to our members.  Please support our discount supplier and help to save you and your neighbors money while improving the quality of life here on the beach.

GVBA’s Discount Services committee reminds you that Waste Management offers GVBA members exceptional pricing for refuse removal service.  Increased participation in the program will result not only in even better pricing for our group, but will reduce the number and frequency of refuse trucks.  Contact us for more details.

Discount services also brings you big discounts on anti-spider spraying from Terminix International as well as other services like snowplowing.  Contact us for more details.

Have an idea for a new discount service that we could bring to the beach?  Contact us or come to the next meeting to discuss it.  Your input is important to tuning this program to maximize the benefit to our members!

 Algae Update:

House passes algae study appropriation: On 5 June 2003, the US House of Representatives passed bill HR 1856 authorizing continued funding of algae study and mitigation programs. This could help to control the troublesome algae problem we frequently have in Lake Ontario during the summer months. The bill now goes to the Senate. Read about HR 1856 at http://thomas.loc.gov.
